I've heard rumors that the National Retailers organization is looking for bail out money to shore them up because you and I aren't spending enough. I haven't seen a news article to back that up, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is true. Basically, the bailout takes our tax dollars that we can't spend on other goods, and give it to the makers of the goods to replace what we can't buy.
In order to shore up the economy, Obamessiah is going to give us a tax break. One thousand dollars for couples and $500 for singles. If you do the math, that's an extra $10.50 a week in your paycheck to stimulate the economy!
To pay for this largess, Obamessiah has proposed a ten cent per gallon tax hike. I have a 20 gallon tank. I fill every week. So this new tax will cost me $2 a week.
$10.50 - 2.00 = $ 8.50
That means I get $8.50 a week tax refund. WOW! Now that flat screen can be mine!
So, for Obamessiah to call what we get a $500 tax cut is all spin. It's really a $440 tax cut.
And forgive me if I bring this up, but aren't gas taxes regressive (assuming a larger percentage of poor peoples' incomes) and anathema to the Democratic party, who want the rich to foot the bill? I guess it's a good thing we're getting that tex credit: That way we can pay the new tax.
