It's Saturday morning, and I am suddenly filled with a longing for Bugs Bunny cartoons. And, apparently, so is oztech.
A collection of thoughts and asides about life. And if I think of anything that needs to be mocked, it will show up here.
"If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way."
--Bertrand Russell

Jamie Gorelick is the author of the architect of the 1995 policy that established a wall between intelligence and law enforcement, which the 9/11 Commission blamed for the attacks. In fact, Jamie Gorelick was on the commission, and accused Condoleezza Rice of malfeasance for not providing intelligence information to law enforcement. In essence, she said following the 1995 memo she wrote is a crime.
And she should know. She is the presumptive Attorney General candidate.
And she is also an expert on the credit crunch. She was the vice chair of Fannie Mae from 1998 to 2003, and recieved a $700,000 bonus her first year. In March of 2002, she told Business week, "Fannie Mae is among the handful of top-quality institutions." The next year government regulators were investigating Fannie Mae $9 billion in unrecorded losses. About the same time, she got a very good deal on a $900,000 mortgage from Countrywide. Remember them? They're out of business. Currently, a Los Angeles federal grand jury is investigating similar loans made by Countrywide. Wanna bet that once she is installed as attorney general that investigation will stop?
