Work today was interesting. I answered several calls for people wanting gift certificates and wondering if they will get them in the mail by Christmas. It's like the husband was sitting around the house for the wife to get home to ask, "Hi, Honey. Christmas is in four days. You think we should get your mom something? Great will get 'er a bed and breakfast in Fredericksburg!"

Yeah, I waited till the last minute. But at least I thought of my Mom first!

I did a bunch of generic gift certificates, but I did one for Jenny's Cabin, one for Country Quiet, and two for Homestead at Becker Vineyards.

Only two and a half more days, then I get 4 days off. YES!

For Christmas, my boss gave me Alton Brown's new cook book, I'm Just Here for More Food. I am a big fan of his show on FoodTV, Good Eats. He's smart and funny, sometimes a hard combination to get across. And his cookbooks reflect the attitude of his show really well.

I spent a whole day on the FoodTV website printing his recipes for myself, so I'm glad there's a published book that I can refer to. (Especially since printer ink is more expensive than gold, pound for pound.)

I just started reading the book, and haven't yet tried any of the recipes, but I got my eye on a few that sound pretty good. If it's anything like his last book, I'm Just Here for the Food, this will be another permanent member of my cookbook shelf. If you want a good cookbook, with a lot of chuckles and great recipes, check it out. And if you want to buy one, please use the Amazon search box on the left.
