VD (Valentine's Day, if you want to be all Christian about it) is approaching. The airwaves, and all the stores, are festooned with red hearts and ads urging you to spend more.

According to a story at NationalJeweler.com, consumers will spend an average of $100.89 this year, up about $3 from last year. Valentine's day sales are estimated at $13.7 billion, up half a billion from last year. And finally, women will spend, on average, $68.64 on the man in their life, while men will blindly spending an average of $135.67.

What can we learn from this, you ask? First, retailers are well on their way to creating a new Christmas where they hope you will empty your wallet into their coffers. Second, judging from the money spent, men are twice as horny as women. And third, both men and women will buy gifts for sex.

Happy VD, everyone!

Hey buddy,

Nice blog. I also wanted to give you the heads up that you spelled "ambulance" wrong in your little balance sheet.

I am going into the studios to record a special original song "True Love Waits" for my Val and it is going to be played on radio stations to broadcast my love for her to millions of people and I don't have to mention the cost of doing this.

I am also launching a special book "The Language of True Love" with a page with her name on it.

She deserves all my love at all costs.
