Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock's new documentary is getting some serious buzz. His new film is titled Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?, and the rumor is that Spurlock knows the answer. Which brings up a question: if a documentary filmmaker can find bin Laden, why can't the US government?
The answer to that is simple: With bin Laden on the loose, we will allow our government the latitude to do anything to protect us. If he were in jail, or, in my preferred scenario, his head was on a pike in front of the White House, we would all feel safe, and the War on Terror would end. Of Course, Operation Iraqi Freedom would continue since that has nothing to do with terrorism.
But has Spurlock really found bin Laden? I doubt it. We would have heard something from al-Qaeda by now trumpeting the fact that the military can't find him, but a filmmaker can.
Of course, bin Laden could be getting a cut of the net to keep quiet. . .
